Have you heard of “Kukur Tihar”?

Tihar is a five-day-long festival celebrated in Nepal and the Indian states of Assam, Sikkim & Darjeeling. The five-day festival is considered to be of great importance as it shows reverence to not just the humans and the Gods, but also to the animals like cows, crows, and dogs who maintain an intense relationship with humans.

The second day, ”Kukur Tihar”, is dedicated to worshiping and appreciating our four-legged friends, Dogs. They are decorated and given a feast fit for royalty – even to the street dogs! People offer garlands, vermilion tika, and delicious food to dogs and acknowledge the cherished relationship between humans and dogs.

All Natural Healthy Dog treat manufacturer Dogsee Chew celebrated ‘Kukur Tihar’ (Dog Festival) in Bangalore. The function was hosted in partnership with TherPup – The Dog Cafe, India’s first Dog cafe.
