Born on November 26, 1939, in Tennessee, United States, as Anna Mae Bullock, Tina Turner died on 24 May, 2023.

She was diagnosed with intestinal cancer in 2016 and had a kidney transplant in 2017.

Dynamic stage presence and a signature raspy voice earned her the nickname - The Queen of Rock 'n' Roll.

Her 1984 album, Private Dancer, was successful with hit songs like What's Love Got to Do with It and Better Be Good to Me.

Tina Turner was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991. She also  won 12 Grammy Awards.

Tina Turner became a Swiss citizen in 2013 after living in Switzerland since the mid-1990s.

Her death has left a void. Celebrities and fans have paid tribute to Tina Turner after her death aged 83.

Beyoncé called her the "epitome of passion and power", and was joined by other stars in saluting Turner's musical legacy.

The Obamas praised her for "singing her truth through joy and pain".
