Life can be difficult when you have no care in the world. This story of a veteran is sad. But what happened at his funeral will melt your heart for sure.

Born on April 23, 1939, Edward Pearson served in the US Army from 1962 and 1964. He lived on a farm and was married once, got divorced as well, and had no children. For the last 25 years, he was living in Naples, Florida and used to run a local Publix grocery store.

Loved by everyone around him, the past few years were hard for Pearson and finances were an additional burden for him. The trailer which he lived in was also damaged in 2017 by Hurricane Irma and since then it was in a bad shape and was filled with mold. His kitchen leaked as well mentioned a Herald-Tribune report.

Even though Pearson tried to fix it through “Rebuild Florida”, a government program, but the repairs were delayed because there was no title on the trailer as he was also scammed by the seller previously.

People came to know about his story when a customer service representative for the Collier County Tax Collector’s office shared it on social media. Help started pouring in soon after and people gave him $1600. This year in July, the title of the trailer was secured, but the 80-year-old man passed away on August 31.

Thankfully this man, who served his nation with honesty and integrity was not alone in his death. The news became viral when it was shared by CNN.

Further, Legacy Options Funeral and Cremation posted a small obituary when he passed away. He also announced that Pearson’s funeral will be held on October 1 at 12:30 pm at Sarasota National Cemetery.

The last line in the obituary was heartwarming. It said: “This veteran has no immediate family. All are welcome to attend.
