We humans have really less patience and very little time out of our busy lives which creates the demand for cutting things short and easing them. Of all tasks, standing in a queue is something we all hate. I mean who on earth likes to wait for their turn?
And wherever there’s an inconvenience or a problem, there are people who try and solve it and create their own opportunity by monetizing it.
Such in a man from London who stands in queues for random people in exchange of money so that they don’t have to wait themselves. And guess what? He makes Rs. 16,000 per day out of it.
And so, one Freddie Beckitt has made this his full time profession. Beckitt charges £160 (approximately Rs 16,000) for an hour to those who don’t want to stand in a queue.
To do this job in a more organized way Beckitt has registered himself on Taskrabbit, an online marketplace where freelancers such as himself meet potential clients and get jobs from.
Beckitt earns particularly well while waiting in line for tickets of popular events or concerts.
“I worked eight hours for a job queuing for the V&A’s Christian Dior exhibition for some very well-to-do people around their mid-sixties,” he shared with a UK media outlet.
Besides this, he also waits around for events that take place at the Apollo Theatre for people who are ready to pay him but don’t have the time to stand in the queue themselves.
He enjoys working in the summer since most popular events take place at that time, but he has also had days where he had to stand in the freezing cold in the winter to get his job done.
Yet there are limitations to his prospects as his profession does not require a specific skill.
“Unfortunately I don’t think I can charge any more than £20 an hour and it doesn’t require any skill or even hard work. But it gives me lots of flexibility to earn and fit it into my writing schedule. My friends and family find it very amusing but definitely weren’t surprised,” Beckitt shared.
Pretty impressive, eh? Do you hate queues as well? Wish we had a Beckitt here or resorted to do what he does ourselves and earned few extra bucks.
