This incident is bizarre. Cute. And funny at the same time. Ever seen a policeman arresting a bird for shoplifting? Well, this actually happened and for real. Not in India, but in the Netherlands.
Not only the Dutch police arrested that tiny yellow and green parakeet bird, but they also kept it in custody.
But, there is a twist.
This cute bird was not the criminal. But a partner in crime, and was sitting atop the man’s shoulder when he violated the law. While arresting the offender, the police also arrested that little feathery friend.
This viral post was shared on Instagram by the Politie Utrecht Centrum, who jokingly mentioned, “We recently arrested a suspect for shoplifting. During the arrest, we found a sneaky witness with feathers and beak on the suspect’s shoulder.”
The caring cops also provided some bread and water to the cute birdie who was sitting on the suspect’s shoulder. The post also mentioned that “During the confinement on our desk, we were shocked to find out that we are not in possession of a bird cell or cage. After proper consultation with the suspect, we have enclosed them together.”
Further, the police added that they were taking good care of the bird.
Not just Instagram, but the video also became viral on Twitter. Also, to protect the tiny suspect’s identity, a black bar was used in the picture to protect its identity. The netizens are going aww over this cute bird and may want it to be freed as well. But, if you scroll down and check the reactions, no doubt you will have a laughter blast.
According to a news report, the cops also mentioned the suspect and his little partner-in-crime were released shortly after and that “the bird has not been questioned and as far as we know, not guilty of any charges.”
Here is what netizens are saying-
Thinking about how the Dutch police arrested a bird for taking part in a robbery, put it in a jail cell with bread and water & when the media reported on it they put a little black bar over the face to protect its identity pic.twitter.com/2ly0zsoAw6
