“Baba Ka Dhaba” Gets Listed On Zomato; Netizens Joined Hands For Goodwill

Coronavirus outbreak has hit the entire world and taken every one to their rock bottom. Lucky are those who still have their jobs and are getting all comforts within the boundaries of their home. The struggle for livelihood in these difficult times has increased manifold.

One of the worst-hit industries among all is the food industry. Though dry ration sales have remained unaffected, cooked food is losing its market. Several food outlets have even closed down in the past months.

Recently a humble food outlet named Baba Ka Dhaba based in New Delhi’s Malviya Nagar has become the talk of the town, the reason being its owner and chef who is an octogenarian couple.

The roadside Dhaba sells meals which include rice, roti, Matar paneer, and more, prepared by the elderly wife of the owner. The pricing of the food is also very meager which is as less as Rs.30 for a half plate dal. Yet the lockdown snatched away from their means of livelihood and even after the unlock, the two have been struggling to meet ends. The food prepared by the two was getting wasted and all they could earn was very little money.

In the video, the couple broke into tears when the YouTuber assured them that he will try to make the video as viral as possible so as to generate funds for them. By God’s grace, within 5 days the video has been circulated widely across all media platforms and people have heard the cries of the couple.

The updated visuals of the food outlet show crowds in the queue outside Baba Ka Dhaba. Moreover, the tears of the owner have now turned to a big wide smile! This is the power of social media if used rightly!

Zomato, India’s restaurant aggregator, and food delivery start-up announced that it has listed ‘Baba ka Dhaba‘ on its app.

“UPDATE: baba ka dhaba is now listed on Zomato and our team is working with the elderly couple there to enable food deliveries… thank you to the good people of the internet for bringing our attention to this,” Zomato India tweeted.

And not to forget Tinder.

Tinder had a quirky message, urging any couple who matches on their platform to visit Baba Ka Dhaba for their next date.
