If you genuinely work towards something, it is meant to happen. And the same has been proved by a boy from Rajasthan who has not only proved to be a worthy son but become a pride for his entire village.

Dudhuram, the son of a daily wage worker, became the first in Kamthai village of Sindhari tehsil in Barmer, Rajasthan, to clear the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). With this, he will now become a primary physician.

To achieve the feat, he scored 626 marks out of 720 in the NEET UG 2021 examination.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test makes a candidate eligible to become a doctor. So, it is deemed as one of the most difficult exams to crack. Most students take coaching for years for such exams, but Dudhuram had to face hardships due to a shortage of funds. His family consists of five members and there is no steady source of income. His father and brother are daily wage workers in construction areas and they own 10 to 12 bighas of land, which is used to grow millets, just enough to feed the family.

His family is illiterate so they couldn’t find ways and means to get their son to study. But he was determined to become a doctor, and for him, nothing less than MBBS was acceptable.

And so, he made his first attempt in 2018, doing self-study, and secured 440 marks. But he did not lose hope and made a second attempt in 2019 again and got 558 marks. It was only then that he decided to go to Kota to prepare for the third attempt which helped him secure All India Rank 23082 with 593 marks in NEET 2020.

This year’s attempt was his fourth consecutive try which landed him in the medical field, finally.

It is not just that his family is underprivileged. Dudhuram’s village lacks a steady water and electricity supply.

His achievement has surely brought a ray of hope to his family and village.
