Easter provides the perfect opportunity to spend some time as a family. The kids are off school and the Bank Holidays mean you have an extra couple of days free from work to enjoy your long weekend.

It’s also that time of year when the weather begins to take a turn for the better, meaning we can all get outside and enjoy some fresh springtime air. Not to mention, of course, the large amounts of chocolate that traditionally gets eaten!

If you’re looking forward to a nice Easter weekend with your loved ones, here are a couple of activities you might want to try that are guaranteed to deliver fun for all the family.

1. Easter egg hunt

Would it be Easter without an egg hunt!? Hopefully, the weather plays ball and you can set up the search outside in the garden and let the kids roam about looking for the dozens of Easter eggs you’ve hidden around the place.

Pro tip: Make sure to keep a list of which eggs are where, otherwise it could make for a long game!

2. Egg and spoon race

While you’re at it, why not continue with the theme and hold an egg and spoon race!? You could have one for parents and one for kids, and for a grand finale, you could piggy-back the little ones to see who makes the best team. No cheating with blue tac or super glue, though!

3. Baking

Another classic tradition of Easter is hot cross buns. But rather than buy them from the supermarket, you can get the little ones to help you make your own. Things might get a little chaotic in the kitchen but you can always worry about the mess later, and the satisfaction of having some homemade treats to tuck into is hard to top. Plus, it should keep the kids entertained for a while!

4. Planting flowers

Spring is a glorious time to be out in the garden, so why not get to work digging some holes and planting some bulbs in your beds? The likes of dahlias, cannas, and lilies can all be planted in the spring and they prefer positions that receive plenty of sunlight. With the help of the children, you can turn your patch into a flourishing garden full of life and color – and the flowers that bloom will serve as a welcome reminder of the fun-filled Easter weekend your family spent together.
