Daughter of a lorry driver and now a mother herself, this woman is a true inspiration for everyone who is passionate about their dreams. A native of Kalappanaickenpatti, a small village located at the foothills of Kollimalai in Namakkal, she is a first-generation learner in her family.

On Tuesday, December 10, G Anandhi received her Veterinary degree along with 18 medals for various achievements at the 21st convocation of Tamil Nadu Veterinary And Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS).

Anandhi is the first person in her family to graduate from university. Her mother has studied till the 8th standard while her father studied up to the 11th standard. Needless to say that it was a proud moment for Anandhi and her parents who were elated to see their daughter receive so many accolades.

According to a TOI report, she mentioned that after her marriage, Anandhi got admission to the veterinary course at government Orathanadu veterinary college near Thanjavur.

“We used to raise goats and chicken at home when I was young. Whenever some animals died of an illness, I would think I could have saved it had I been a veterinarian. This interest from my early days made me choose veterinary science as the subject of my undergraduate study,” she said to the media outlet.

She has been a talented student throughout her career and also topped her school in both the 10th and 12th standard exams. “There was no question of affording tuition classes and my parents couldn’t help me at home. So I would focus really hard in school to absorb whatever the teacher says. After my 10th standard I got a full scholarship for the next two years allowing me to continue studies,” she said to TNM.

But, by the time she joined college and decided to pursue higher education, she was already a mother. It was her parents who took care of the child while she attended classes. Anandhi also mentioned that her father also had to go to work so that the expenses of the child can be taken care of. Not only her parents but she also gives credits to her in-laws who also supported her to complete her degree and achieve so many medals.

How beautiful a society will become if we all help each other to move forward and learn more. It is true that when you educate a woman, you educate the whole generation.
