In a sad turn of events, a Noida couple who took their pet dog (husky) on a religious trip has been sued.
Named Nawab, the husky’s owner Rohan Tyagi has been reportedly booked for allegedly hurting religious sentiments by making his pet dog touch an idol at the Kedarnath shrine.
The nightmarish event has left the netizens in splits. There was a huge turmoil and debate on the internet and media as to decide whether the act was truly condemnable.
What led Kedarnath temple committee to sue the husky
Rohan Tyagi had posted a video of his pet husky Nawab paying respects at the shrine and applying Tilak. The video naturally went viral and caught the attention of the Badrinath-Kedarnath temple committee. Next they demanded stern action against the devotee, saying these visuals have hurt the religious sentiments of people.
As per Hindu religion, dogs are not allowed inside temples, palaces and the houses of brahmanas. Those are the residing places of gods like Agni, Indra, Surya and Vayu and they aren’t allowed there because they are an inferior species.
Nawab has been visiting temple for years
In a response to all the hue and cry, Rohan shared a post saying he’s been taking his pet dog to temples for the past four years.
“I don’t understand what’s wrong in it. I have taken Nawab to other shrines such as Badrinath for last four years. He is travelling with his mom and me. Why is there so much drama all of a sudden?” he wrote in an Instagram post.

The harassment has lately taken a toll on Rohan’s health. Through his Instagram account his wife seemingly urged netizens to #MakeIndiaPetFriendly and set an example through Nawab.

What’s wrong in taking a dog to a temple of Pashupati himself?? This hypocrisy of Religious leaders is what I hate!! Infact the priest should be booked for defamation … Kudos to the man who treats his Dog as an equal life.. #KedarnathTemple #Kedarnathhttps://t.co/53SVwL2wuY pic.twitter.com/7DnigKruR1
