SVN Suresh Babu, a man from Andhra Pradesh’s Vishakhapatnam has become the fastest solo trekker to reach Mount Everest base camp. The mountaineer has achieved the feat in a time span of four days.
With this, Suresh is now the first Indian man to complete the trek in such a short time. To complete the journey, he walked for almost 10 hours every day in the rocky and snowy terrains. He reached 5,364 meters above sea level at his final point. It usually takes people around 15 to 20 days to reach there.
The arduous one man journey
Suresh began his journey from Visakhapatnam via Delhi to Kathmandu in Nepal. As per reports, his solo marathon trek started from Lukla in Nepal on December 20 and finished at the Everest camp on December 24.
The conditions were indeed challenging provided he was a man from Andhra and not used to the low temperatures. He had to face extreme weather conditions such as freezing temperatures of -20°C with a mere 40 percent oxygen at high altitudes.
The walk schedule of the marathon trek program was managed by the Acute Adventure Institute of Nepal. And so, his achievement was recognized by the government of Nepal, and the Acute Adventure Institute has authenticated his trip and facilitated him with certificates of recognition.
Once he finished the Everest camp trek, Suresh also trekked at higher altitudes of Kala Patthar (5,550 meters above sea level) and hiked the Island peak at 6,160 meters later on January 1 when he returned to Kathmandu.
