India is a country of many religions and it is a common sight here to see the communities blending on special occasions.

As Hindus across the nation pray to Lord Shiva on Maha Shivaratri, Muslims across the country are doing their part to show their respect to the former.

Here are few instances that are living proof of our communal harmony.

Muslim men and women set camp for Kawariyas in Meerut

Devotees of Shiva carry water from their villages, towns, and cities to auspicious pilgrimage sites which are offered to the Shivling. This journey is called Kawar yatra and the devotees are referred to as Kawariya.

Kawariyas walk barefoot with one or two Kalash (small pot) filled with water hanging on a stick on either side. The task is strenuous and so many good Samaritans set camps to ease the pain of the pilgrims.

Such a camp was set up in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh by a group of Muslim men and women. They have been attending the pilgrims with food, water, and other amenities at the site since March 10.

Muslims shower flowers on Hindu pilgrims in Kashi

When Hindus visited Kashi Vishwanath on the auspicious occasion of Shivaratri, our Muslim brothers and sisters showered flowers on them on the banks of the Ganges.

Muslim fellowmen wish Kashmiri Pandits

As Kashmiri Pandits celebrate Herath (Mahashivaratri), like all years, Muslim fellowmen visit their homes to wish them on the occasion. Although the Pandits were once forced to leave the Snow Crown, there are many good people who care for each other despite the religious differences and sad past.

Incredible, right?
