India has a high population which leads to an increased usage of automobiles. Nowadays, most middle and upper-middle-class families have a car of their own. In such a case, it’s important to consider car usage in India. Given that not all cities in India have well-connected public transit systems, people tend to rely on private vehicles if they can afford them. When automobiles were first invented, nobody would’ve thought we’d one day be using electricity to run cars.

But right now, electric cars in India are a massive phenomenon because of ecological consciousness and increasing petrol and diesel prices. A few years ago, nobody would’ve trusted electric car technology because of apprehensions about shifting to new technology. However, electric cars have now been in the market long enough, so people are investing in them. Although, the shift is not proportional to the time that electric cars have existed.

Let’s explore why people need to focus more on electric cars.

1. Environment

We all agree that the climate crisis has been getting worse yearly. Every year we read reports from various organisations about plans to meet different ecological goals. However, regardless of how many agreements or conventions people at the top of the brass get into, the environmental problem needs a hand from all of us. One of the best ways is to switch to electric cars in India. This will reduce our dependency on fossil fuels, leading to lesser toxic emissions.

2. Next generations

With the rising use of fossil fuels, there will be no reserves. Because we must remember that fossil fuels are an exhaustible energy source, and our future generations will suffer because of this uncontrolled usage of fossil fuels. Moreover, as mentioned above, it also leads to increased emissions. The emissions affect the younger generation more as they will have to deal with its consequences when they grow up. Therefore, it’s essential to think of the future because nature can only protect us if we protect it.

3. Governments will reward you

Governments and institutions worldwide are taking note of the impact of carbon emissions on the state of the world. Therefore, there have been programs to reward people that move towards sustainable means of life. Many state governments in India also provide subsidies for electric vehicles to incentivise people to make the switch.

4. Low maintenance

One of the best things people forget about electric cars in India is that its low maintenance. With increasing fuel prices in the country, anything can be cheaper than petrol. Therefore, electric cars can be more affordable because electricity is cheaper than petrol. And most electric car manufacturers are offering great deals for servicing their cars to make people focus on electric vehicles. Its low maintenance and people need to start acknowledging that!

5. EV is the future

Looking at how the Electric Vehicle industry is innovating, we can rest assured that it’s the future. Some brands have been trying to fix all the problems reported with EVs and learn from them. They’re working hard to give us a sustainable future.

Conclusion

It’s time for people to focus on electric cars in India. Brands have been offering new models and are fixing bugs in their systems. A sustainable future is only possible if we all work together towards the goal, and electric cars can help with one step.
