After a night out and a few drinks, you’re likely to pay the price in the morning. Everyone has ideas of “hangover cures,” but many only give very slight temporary hangover relief at best. Although there’s no quick way to eliminate all the symptoms, there are a few ways to regain mobility.

Best Remedies for a Hangover

1. Sip Water

Nausea is a common hangover symptom. The last thing you want to do is eat or drink anything. However, staying hydrated is essential. Alcohol can cause mild dehydration, especially if you’ve been vomiting. 

2. Drink a Smoothie

Drinking a healthy smoothie could help relieve some of alcohol’s inflammatory effects. Include fruits, Greek yogurt, nut butter, and other healthy ingredients (e.g., almond milk, raw spinach) to revitalize yourself with much-needed hydration and nutrients refreshingly.

3. Eat Fast-Digesting Carbs

Alcohol irritates the stomach lining, so it’s best to eat fast-digesting carbs like crackers, toast, or bagels instead of high-fat foods that stay in your stomach longer. It’s also helpful to add a protein source such as Greek yogurt or an egg if you’re not feeling nauseous. 

4. Take a Pain Reliever

You’ll probably have a headache for a while after drinking too much alcohol. There’s not much you can do about it, but sometimes anti-inflammatory medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen can help keep the pain to a minimum. Don’t take acetaminophen (e.g., Tylenol), though; the combination of it and alcohol can damage your liver. 

5. Have Some Caffeine

The stimulant element of caffeine can help wake you up and get going if you have things to do as your hangover lingers. Exercise

Foods rich in protein and vitamin C are excellent for detoxing your body after a night of drinking. Vitamin B and zinc are also great for getting you back on your feet.
