There couldn’t have been a great way to start the New Year 2016 as India gets its first transgender music band – “6 Pack Band“. Y-Films, the youth wing and a subsidiary of the Yash Raj Films, has released the band’s debut single “Hum Hain Happy” today.
The 6 Pack Band comprises six transgender singers hailing from India’s ‘Hijra’ community – Asha Jagtap, Bhavika Patil, Chandni Suvarnakar, Fida Khan, Komal Jagtap, Ravina Jagtap. A great initiative to help further the cause of gender equality in India.
The next in line will be another single from the band, in collaboration with Sonu Nigam, titled “Rab De Bande” to be released on India’s Republic Day, 26th January 2016. Don’t miss to watch the trailer of this song at the end of the video.
In another first, Mumbai launches India’s first LGBT Radio Cab service. Read about it here.
