The generation we are born in has a tendency to take things for granted. There are even some people who bicker and question the provider for their shortcomings. For every human, a parent plays the role of the ultimate resource lender and little do the kids know to acknowledge the efforts they make to give them the life they breathe and live in.
Of course, taking care of children’s needs is the sole responsibility of parenthood but there’s a fine line between giving off what’s available and cutting short one’s own expenses or going a level up by borrowing to fulfill them. That’s what is called unconditional love and not mere duty.
Very few realize the pain of the nurturers. Recently one such girl was spotted in the crowd of tweets.
Named Kavindya Thennakoon, a Twitter user recently shared how her mother struggled and took loans to educate her and that she finally managed to clear all the debts. The girl from Stanford University wrote that it took her 12 long years to pay off what was lent.
What could be made out of her post was that Thennakoon’s mother was a single mother. She emphasized in her tweet that the sole reason why she shared her story is that she wished to celebrate resilient women who fought alone and ferociously like her mother.
Here’s the post.
Amma had to take a hella lot of loans to put me through school and to make it by. 12 years later, last night I paid it all off. For the first time in our lifetime we’re debt free ❤️ Here’s to resilient women who fought alone and ferociously. pic.twitter.com/cPoAhkihBI

Some even shared their own supermom stories.
I only know you from Twitter but this makes me really happy ❤️ My mother raised two girls alone, and I’m constantly amazed by how she made it with just Rs 7k a month and no one to even confide her troubles in. More power to you and your mother – you guys are incredible!

Awesome. Here’s to 🥂 strong women who make it without the men. I see my own mother who raised us with Rs 8500 a month. Unbelievable but true. I think that it makes us stronger people and as a man, see life through the lens of a woman’s eye.

The state of single mothers in India remains precarious, not necessarily financially but socially. Our country is still hell-bent on expecting patriarchal couples. A woman taking the reins in her hands is not digestible for many. So, indeed Thenakoon’s mother must have gone through a lot to prove her mettle. Loaning money would surely have added to her burdens but she bore it anyway for the sake of her daughter. But what makes Thenakoon’s story even more applauding is the fact that she as a daughter who understood it. She even took the responsibility knowing that it was difficult for her mom. That is how a child should stand by.
