As the call for adopting dogs instead of buying them (which requires forceful mating and is hence leading to animal cruelty) gets popular, a Canadian couple has become exemplary with their act. They literally went out of their way to save a dog’s life and give it a forever home.
Dogs can be adopted from anywhere, and so this got to fly across the world from India to Canada to be rehomed by this generous, cynophile (someone who loves canines/dogs) couple.
Havilah Heger Wiley and Stephen adopted a rescued native Indian dog. Following this, the dog made an intercontinental journey to be relocated in Canada’s Alberta province. Now she has been Indy.
For making her arrival precious, Havilah posted a heartwarming video of themselves meeting their new pet on Instagram.
Havila and Stephen can be seen nervously waiting for the dog as they leave for the airport. Stephen brings the carrier and opens it. It takes the dog a little time to adjust herself. She eats the treats and learns the new place.
“A little shy at first, but didn’t take long to bond. Welcome home Indy,” reads the post caption.
In another post where Havilah writes that the “gentle, sweet” and “goofy” Indian dog travelled for five days before arriving at her home. Indy, early in her life, had been in an accident that left her seriously injured, she added.
“She was hit by a vehicle when she was a tiny puppy and her leg + tail were injured badly. Her tail never recovered and had to get amputated, so now she has the cutest little stub tail…..We are SO obsessed and wildly in love”, she wrote.
We appeal to you to give a thought and adopt a dog instead of buying a pup. There are millions looking for a home like yours.
