A young man from the Surajpur district of Chhattishgarh is on a journey spanning 1600 Km to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He is walking on foot towards New Delhi from his home state spreading the messages of “unity in diversity and nationalism” in his Amrit Yatra marking the 75th year of Indian independence.

Named Rajiv Rajwade, the native of Sohagpur village is carrying just his backpack, essentials, and the tricolor flag while making the daunting march. Every day is covering around 50 Km by walk.

He started out from Gandhi Stadium in Ambikapur on 10th August after meeting BJP National Vice President Dr. Raman Singh and BJP Mahila Morcha State President Mrs. Saroj Pandey at their Raipur residence.

“Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi started ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat in March 2021 to celebrate the 75th year of India’s independence, which will continue till August 15, 2023. There is an atmosphere of celebration in the country today and every countryman is full of patriotism. On this occasion, while traveling on foot from Gandhi Stadium in Ambikapur on 10th August, I wish to communicate the spirit of unity in diversity and patriotism among the people…Taking guidance for the journey ahead, I want to convey this message to the honorable Prime Minister on behalf of all the people of Chhattisgarh. I want all your support and blessings. Bharat Mata Ki Jai !”

Rajiv wrote that in a social media post.

“Schemes such as Ujjawala yojana, Ayushman and Kisan Samman, have immensely benefitted the poor and down-trodden everywhere including in Chhattisgarh, which is why I wish to thank the Prime Minister personally and also hope that he yet again serves the nation in the same capacity the next time,” he added.

His gesture has been highly praised by his fellowmen and everyone who meets on his way. People greet him everywhere with a salute to the national flag. They are all delighted when they hear about his cause and also raise patriotic slogans with him.

When asked how he plans to undertake this tedious journey on foot, Rajiv said that when someone holds a tricolor in his hands, nothing seems impossible.
