Vivek Oberoi has come forward with a noble initiative to empower the girl child. NGO Devi, the brainchild of this actor and philanthropist, has been supporting female children through education.
Recently, he has introduced a scholarship for girls in Jammu’s St Lawrence Public School, named after his daughter and wife Priyanka Alva Oberoi, mentioned TOI report.
Under this scholarship, Vivek will financially support the higher education of 8-10 girls every year. He will also personally take care of their housing, stay and medical expenditures.
While on his trip to Jammu where he went to seek blessings of Vaishnodevi, the actor visited the school. Having met the girls in person, he got an understanding of these children’s immense potential and therefore he decided to sponsor their higher education after discussing it with the school’s higher authorities.
“Every girl deserves the right to pursue their dreams…if education will allow these girls to soar, I want to, in whatever capacity, be able to give them those wings,” Vivek added, as mentioned in the report.
