The world is majorly driven by money and for someone who has lived through shortage of funds will always have the tendency to work hard and be affluent. Yet there are some who would give up all those riches to earn respect over money, or you can say a balance in stature and money by fulfilling life long dream.

Such is one M Mallika who is a daughter of a construction worker and had a well paid job in a Chartered Accountancy yet she left it to join the Mahila Police.

Daughter Of Construction Worker Joins Mahila Police

Mallika completed Chartered Accountancy Intermediate course and got a decent job in Hyderabad. But her ambition of donning the police uniform made her quit the job, come back to her native village Rajanagaram and join the department.

For her money is important, but it is not everything. She takes immense pleasure to serve the people of her village.

Daughter Of A Construction Worker

Being the daughter of a mason, Mallika had to work really hard and she braved all odds to complete her academics. After obtaining bachelor’s degree, she developed interest in CA and encouraging feedback from her lecturers, prompted the family to oblige Mallika’s wish. Following this, she joined a corporate company at Madhapur in Hyderabad and also did the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) course, which is recognised in 26 countries.

She had a really promising job as per her qualification. It was paying her well and helped be a support as a responsible daughter to her family, but she was not satisfied.

During this time, the Andhra Pradesh government came up with the village secretariat system in which Mahila Police was made an integral part. As a child, Mallika always want to be a Police and this was her chance. Thus, she applied for Mahila Police job in the village secretariat with a monthly salary of mere Rs 13,000.

Being A Stern Female Cop

To her surprise, she was actually selected as Mahila Police and posted at Chakradwarabandham village secretariat in East Godavari district. Within a few months, 29-year-old Mallika reported 60 offences, including harassment of women, had won accolades from her superiors. As a result, she received threats but was never scared. She also prevented five child marriages in the village, and created Covid awareness among villagers.

“We have to give up good life and job sometimes to achieve our goal. My life aim was to do this job. There is a charm in doing police duty. So I have joined Mahila Police though I am getting very less salary. Life is not a bed of roses. It is difficult to quit Madhapur life and come to sleepy Chakradwarabandham village and mingle with villagers. I did not care about problems during the initial days. I have the support of Rajanagaram police,’’ Mallika told a media outlet.

She is now preparing for Group I and Group II posts so that she can take on more responsibilities.
