The ever-romantic city of Dehradun now has ‘Dil Tuta Aashiq Café’ meaning heartbroken lover’s café which is dedicated to the ones who have failed in love.
This unique café has been launched by a resident named Divyanshu Batra who told the Hindustan Times that he wanted to give his café a catchy name to attract customers. The owner had suffered from a heartbreak lately and wanted to create “something positive out of his break-up” instead of “mourning it for long.”

Within a span of one month of its opening since December 16, the café, located at the GMS Road area of the Uttarakhand capital, has become quite famous especially amongst those who have suffered from heartache.
Batra lost his childhood sweetheart and went into depression for several months. All he did was play PUBG. One day he had had enough of it and decided to do something substantial. That’s when he thought to start Dil Tuta Aashiq Café.
A BSc holder in computer science, Batra claims to have opened the cafe with his savings. But his dad was quite “skeptical” about his idea. Yet, on the other hand, his mother was happy for him. Soon after the popularity, even his dad changed his mind and accepted his son’s decision.
“My mother was very supportive of the fact that I was going to start something of my own after the bad phase I went through but my father was not convinced with the name of the cafe. But one day, one of his friends who was unaware that the cafe is mine, praised the food and its ambiance. Then my dad got convinced that I am doing something productive,” the café owner said.

Batra runs the café alongside his younger brother Rahul Batra. Yet his motive is not just to do business but provide a platform to the likes of him who have lost their love.
“More than doing business, he wanted to provide a platform to people like him with heartbreaks to share their stories,” said Rahul.
To this, the big brother added…
One of the visitors of ‘Dil Tuta Aashiq Café’ said, “I work as a teacher and had a breakup with my partner recently after a relationship of about 3 years. I was totally heartbroken since then. Then a few days ago, while passing by the area, I saw the cafe and stopped only to end up sharing my pain with Batra and feeling lighthearted.”
Likewise, another visitor shared, “After having a heartbreak, I came here and Batra helped me a lot in coping with the bad phase and moving on. I am really grateful to him and continue to come here.”

The overwhelming response to Dil Tuta Aashiq Café has made Batra optimistic. He now plans to expand his café outlets.
“I am soon going to have a franchise in Haridwar within a month and have plans of opening up another branch in Dehradun after a couple of months,” he informed.
