As with anything of this ilk, feng shui is certainly something that splits opinion. On the one hand, some people swear by it. On others, other people think it just can’t be believed.

Well, it should go without saying at this point that this article is primarily going to target the first group. In other words, we’re going to show you how you can really improve the flow of energy in your home – and ultimately make it a happier place.

Let’s get into some of the ways you can do this.

1. The position of your door matters

First and foremost, your front door isn’t just the point in which you enter your home. It’s also the point in which energy does.

As a result, many believe that the position is crucial. If it’s directly facing the back door, your home has suddenly lost balance. Then, if it opposite your staircase, energy enters the home and quickly rises to the upper floor (meaning that nothing is left on the lower one).

Unfortunately, the cost of rectifying this is going to be extensive for some of you, and will probably require the use of experienced tradesmen with the appropriate equipment. However, it will make the world of difference to the energy levels in your home.

2. Make sure your bathroom is positioned accordingly

When it comes to this topic, it could be said that the bathroom has a lot to answer for. The very nature of this room means that a lot of energy is “lost” through it – and this means that its position is really important. For example, if it is facing the kitchen, all the nourishment and warmth that arises from that room suddenly contrasts with differing energies from the bathroom.

Similar rules apply to the front door. If the bathroom is facing it, energy can enter your home and immediately exit it through the bathroom.

3. Limit your hallways

Without trying to generalize, the premise of most hallways is that they are long and narrow. From a feng shui perspective, this is asking for trouble. There is little going on, and this means that stagnant energy can build quite quickly.

Clearly, removing a hall is something that is rarely possible. It doesn’t mean to say that you can’t tackle the issue with other solutions though. For example, rather than knocking down walls and other huge tasks, consider opening up space with new lights and even mirrors. It’s something that can just allow the energy to flow a little better, and make everyone in your household reap the difference.

4. Take care of the clutter

Finally, let’s talk about the C-word. As we all know, this is something that has really become mainstream over the last few years, and when it comes to feng shui, it’s of paramount importance. Experts believe that clutter is something that can block energy and those homes with a lot of it are likely to suffer as a result.

The solution? Simply arrange for more storage space. This is one of the simplest situations to rectify, and you don’t necessarily have to invest in a hugely expensive remodeling project.
