When handling a single profession becomes difficult for most of us, this woman, at 25, is balancing two very responsible jobs. One is a high-pressure job and another she thinks is her social responsibility. While the first one is her daily bread and butter another she does completely out of love.
Guddan Chaudhary, who is a resident of Hathras, is a police constable by day and after duty hours or in her spare time she teaches at a school in Khurja town of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. Children lovingly call her “police madam”.
Chaudhary was posted in Khurja (Dehat) police station for the past 6 months and today she has 24 students in her class who come from an economically disadvantaged background and cannot afford proper education. Apart from this, she also provides books to these children.
On asking what prompted her to keep aside some time from this high-pressure job, she said to TOI: “I am doing my bit.” Further, she believes that education is the only way that will help them live a better life.
Guddan used to teach in Mathura as well from where she completed her studies and therefore, taking out time for her passion is nothing new for her. This 2016-batch constable has reserved 30% of her salary for buying books for these poor children.
Today, her seniors also respect and appreciate her work and praising her efforts, Circle officer Khurja, Raghvendra Mishra said, “We appreciate this. Besides teaching, she tries to help them financially also. We are always there to help her in this noble cause.”
Father of one of the children who is a manual worker mentions about Guddan that how she has changed the image of police in people’s minds and for people like them who cannot afford any proper means of livelihood, she has become a blessing for them and that they are thankful to her.
