The Indo-Tibetan Border Police has won all hearts across the nation with their act of benevolence.

A recent video put up by the ITBP on Saturday shows how the Jawans rescued an injured woman who had fallen accidentally from a hillside near a remote village in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district. In order to rescue the woman, the 14th Battalion ITBP personnel braved all odds in one of the worst monsoon-hit areas.

Crossing flooded ‘nallahs’ (drains/canals/streams), broken routes, landslide-prone areas, these ‘Himveers’ walked across 40 km for 15 hours carrying the woman on a stretcher.

The injured woman suffered for two days as the chopper intended to carry her to the hospital could not reach. Just then a group of 25 ITBP men took the initiative to save her life.

As per reports, on August 20, the woman from a remote village Laspa of Munsiyari division in Pithoragarh district fell from the sloppy hills that were wet due to rain and broke her legs. On receiving information about the delay of the chopper, the ITBP personnel went to the village from their Border Outpost to rescue the woman whose condition was worsening. The village is about 22 Km from the outpost which the ITBP personnel had to travel mostly on foot.

Following this, they carried her across the hilly terrain to a distant road head from where she was further evacuated to the hospital. The latest update mentions that her condition is stable now.
