Time and again, the Sikh community has lent its hands in every natural and civil calamity. I have been told by many of my Sikh friends that it is a duty taught in their very religion to stand by fellow citizens in times of need.

Yet once again the community has proven its benevolence with its kind act.

Khalsa Aid, an international humanitarian relief charity set up by the community was seen distributing food and water bottles to the farmers during nationwide protests against the agricultural reform bill passed by the Indian Parliament.

They had also set up a makeshift kitchen to make meals for over 15,000 farmers who were protesting.

The charity has aided in all major crises around the world – be it the devastating Kerala floods, rescuing Kashmiri students after the Pulwama attack, or distributing gifts to Syrian refugees on Eid- since 1999.

While farm unions have refused the help, we are still here to show our solidarity with them,” said a volunteer in an interview.
