With all women crew, Mahila Mall is all set to open on November 14 in Kerala’s Kozhikode and will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Known to be country’s first Women’s Mall, this micro bazaar is situated on Wayanad Road near Fathima hospital. The five-storey has 80 commercial spaces on three floors.
Do you know that in the North-East of India, Manipur, there is a 150-year-old bazaar where all the 5000 traders are women? No man is allowed to do trade in this market and it is the only such market in the world.
Kudumbashree (a government agency) which falls under Kozhikode corporation CDS unit has taken this wonderful initiative to open this exclusive mall in the state. There will be 26 counters and this will provide a good platform for the small-scale entrepreneurs and their products.
Kudumbashree Project officer MV Ramzi Ismail said to Matrubhumi, “In India, this is the only commercial venture with an all-women crew.”
In the fourth floor, there will be numerous services administered by women such as Techno World Training center of Kudumbashree, family counseling center, Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation (KSWDC) help desk, She Taxi help desk and kiosks of various services. Also, Milma and Khadi board stores will be opened here.
For the convenience of the shoppers, two ATM counters will be installed. On top of the roof garden, a food court will be arranged so that foodies can have a good time. What makes this mall fun for children is an electronic play zone in 3100 square feet.
Unlike other malls, in this one, women will play various roles as the security guard, administrator and so on.
Shopaholics, keep your list ready before the mall opens!
