It is always exciting to be part of the live crowd and watch Republic Day Parade in person than starring at your television screens. Even though there are parades pan India, the capital city steals the show every year with its own charm.
If you are excited about the upcoming Republic Day on January 26th and hopelessly browsing the internet looking for ticket outlets, timings or have exhausted yourself searching for the price of parade tickets, fret no more and put all your thoughts to rest! We are here to help with the complete information you will be needing to purchase these tickets.
Assuming you don’t have contacts with VIPs or any senior official to get access to front row seats, all you can do is check out these outlets and buy tickets for yourself.
Usually, for Republic Day Parade, the tickets are generally available from January 7-25, every year at the Departmental Sales Counters in the following locations:
Ticket Outlets-
- North Block Roundabout
- Sena Bhawan (Gate 2)
- Jantar Mantar (Main Gate)
- Jamnagar House (opposite India Gate)
- Pragati Maidan (Gate 1 at Bhairon Road)
- Shastri Bhawan (near Gate 3)
- Red Fort (inside August 15 Park and opposite Jain Temple)
- Parliament House Reception Office, the special counter of members of Parliament
All the counters will stay open daily from 10 am – 12:30 pm and from 2 pm-4:30 pm. In addition to this, this year, the ticket outlets will be open till 7 pm (1900 hrs) from January 23-25 at Shastri Bhavan, Jantar Mantar, Jamnagar House, and Sena Bhavan.
But on January 23, 2019, the ticket counters will open only in the afternoon on account of Full Dress Rehearsal Day and on January 26, 2019, all counters will remain closed on the account of the Republic Day Parade. Further, on January 28, 2019, all ticket counters will close by 3 pm (1500 hrs) due to the commencement of Beating Retreat (Rehearsal).
Ticket Prices for 2019:
For Republic Day Parade:
- Reserved Seats- Rs. 500
- Unreserved Seats- Rs.100 and Rs.20
(Note that people opting for reserved seats are likely to sit closer to the main stage where all the programmes and parade is scheduled to take place. For unreserved seats, it will be provided on the first-come-first basis.)
Beating Retreat Ceremony (Full Dress Rehearsal on 28th January)
- All are Unreserved Seats, priced at Rs.50 and Rs.20.
What is Beating Retreat Ceremony?
Every year, Beating Retreat Ceremony takes place on January 29 at Vijay Chowk on Rajpath and symbolizes retreat after a day on the battlefield and features performances by bands of the three wings of the Indian military- the Army, Navy and Air Force.
(Tickets are available until 3 pm on January 28, 2019, at the above outlets and will be closed on Republic Day.)
