You must have seen and read several accounts of dogs that waited for their deceased owner, saved numerous lives, gave their lives protecting their master, and so on and so forth. They are truly human’s inseparable companions and soon develop a selfless emotional connection that humans, in general, can never strike.
Recently in Gujarat, a furry angel was found walking along his owner’s funeral procession. As per reports, a Jain monk in Surat’s Vesu passed away. Following the unfortunate incident, her dog was among those who walked a stretch of 5km in the palanquin journey (palki yatra) that carried her mortal remains. To be precise, it walked the entire journey under the palki from her house to the Umara Crematorium.
The people who were taking part in the palki yatra were taken aback by the pleasant yet emotional surprise. They initially thought that the dog would leave their side after a while but it continued for a while until some shooed it away. But they were all left stunned when the dog came back and started walking underneath the palanquin again. And like we earlier mentioned in our headline, it didn’t leave their side till the yatra reached the crematorium. Moreover, when the sadhwi’s mortal remains were consigned to the flame, the dog was still standing there, watching everything till it was over.
It has been further reported that the dog was later picked up in a car and dropped off at Vesu, by the disciples who had come to the crematorium to offer their last respects.
From his appearance, in a viral photograph, the dog appears to be of mongrel breed. It used to roam in Vesu area where Piyush Varsha Sadhwi Maharaj used to reside in the Rameshwaram Apartment. She had shifted to the place some years ago and used to take care and feed it.
