How far can you go to achieve your dreams?

Meet Sanju Rani Verma. At the age of 28 back in 2013, she fled her home with the determination to achieve her goals in life. And, she did it!

Sanju was pursuing her post-graduation degree from Delhi University when she lost her mother in 2013. Born in a family where women’s education isn’t encouraged, her family started pressurizing her to leave studies mid-way and get married. However, Sanju, a graduate from Meerut’s RG Degree College, was unable to convince her family with the importance of building her own career and not settling down.

She was determined. Even though she knew the road ahead is not rosy, Sanju decided to leave home to realize her ambition. She had very little money when she left. But that didn’t stop her.

That year (in 2013) I not only left home but also the PG course which I was pursuing from DU. There was no money. I took a room on rent and started teaching children. I also got part-time teaching jobs at private schools. Somehow I continued my studies for civil services exams, Sanju said while talking to the Times of India.

By god’s grace and her perseverance, seven years later, Sanju Rani Verma has cracked the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (PSC) 2018 examination. The result was declared last week.

Sanju will be joining the government service as a Commercial Tax Officer soon. However, she doesn’t wish to settle for this. She hopes to crack the civil services exam next and become a divisional magistrate.

With her current success, the 35-year-old wishes to support her family financially. She is hopeful that her family will now realize the value of education and why it is important to believe in self and chase our own goals in life.
