The sense of happiness in a clean and arranged home is immense, which is why it is said that cleanliness is next to godliness. But it is challenging to maintain a house when one has a busy schedule. Thankfully the Coronavirus outbreak came as a blessing in disguise, forcing us to clean our homes and everything we wore while we went out. In the process, we picked up the knack for decluttering.

This was also the case with Hyderabad-based Engineer Shagun Sood. Like most of us, she started cleaning and decorating her flat more than ever. Not only this, she started growing plants – crops, indoor and flowering – which turned out to be her ultimate love.

Gradually Shagun wanted to showcase her talent and knowledge to the world, and there was no better place than social media. So, Shagun started posting them on her Instagram.

The USP of her content is that she shares how one can add greenery indoors and beautify what could be aptly termed as green décor. It’s the best way one can decorate their home while staying healthy.

I started growing plants during the lockdown but never did I know that I will fall in love with them. As we live on rent in Hyderabad, we developed the habit of decorating our home frequently. We had to spend all our time indoors, and it brought the much-needed freshness. I started watching videos related to the genre and always felt I did way better than them. Everything had to be budget friendly which has always been my focus. In December 2020, I felt like this is the time, and I started posting about my work on my Instagram handle. This is my happy place where I do what I love, and my balcony is the heart of it,” Shagun shared, while speaking to Life Beyond Numbers.

“My family has been really helpful; especially my mom and husband have been there. Mom would share her tips with me, and I would try them. Husband keeps on suggesting great ideas every now and then,” she added, emphasizing her support system.

Shagun uses very simple objects that are cost-effective and adds cool green hues in every corner of the rooms and balcony. They are so soothing and feel good that her followers started to grow quickly. She also grows crops on her balcony, basically her kitchen garden. With this, she is saving a good deal of money and eating all organic.

Shagun now has over 52.2K followers, which is organically growing daily. On top of it, her venture has been profitable. She now endorses brands, does collaborations, and visits stores.

“There are many who follow my tips and tricks. I receive messages regarding plant care or decor-related queries. My cousin sent me a photo where he was taking plants home. Many of them started a propagation system. My fellow friends ask for help as well. One of them has a cat. She also wanted to keep plants on the balcony, so I suggested her some pet-friendly options. This is how it is working now. I am happy to help people,” said the influencer.

“Plants make us happier and healthier. Once you start your plant journey, you will never stop. It’s like an obsession, at least for me. We spend most of our time indoors. Plants help to boost our mood, purify the air and increase productivity. They are a budget-friendly option for home décor with the power to bring life to any corner of your house. Also, growing plants is like self-development. You learn to be patient, humble, concerned, and passionate. Start your gardening journey now. Trust me, you will feel a lot of change in yourself, and this is the best way to save the earth and make your surroundings green and clean,” concludes the engineer turned green décor influencer.

“It is a beautiful journey that I am enjoying. Being a Content creator is one step further into my life,” Shagun added.
