Living on a farm, growing your food, and enjoying an organic life! Seems like living a dream life, right?

Now, don’t be jealous. 24-year-old Siddharth Kubavat is living this life in Junagadh. His daily activities revolve around farming and living in harmony with nature. Life Beyond Numbers got a chance to get into a conversation with him. We inquired more about his source of inspiration to live such a life. Here’s what Siddharth shared,

“Fresh air, good food, and peaceful life were the main sources of inspiration. I have always been someone who loves slow living. I enjoy growing at my own pace. Being close to nature allows me to live that way. I always wanted my food to be the best. When I say best, it means healthy and poison free. Growing my food was the best way to assure I ate the healthiest food.”

To create a life for himself that is in harmony with nature, he decided to pursue farming. Siddharth feels that living on a farm not only allows him to be physically healthy but also allows him to know himself better. Diving deeper into oneself and creating a connection is a byproduct of being in nature.

Siddharth grows his fruits, vegetables, and even some spices/masalas. He rarely buys any groceries from the outside. If anything is needed, the farmers living nearby barter with each other and fulfill their needs. A life free from market and retail place is a stress-free experience.

Benefits of living on a farm

A 24-year-old can have many other ambitions other than farming. It can be building a business, getting the dream job, or living a luxurious life. However, Siddharth has been living here for two years and farming. Now, he is on the path of building a conscious community connected to nature. On being asked about the factors that keep him motivated, he shared –

“Living on a farm has taught me many things which normal education system failed to deliver. The importance of time became very necessary when I had to sow seeds. I had to wait for the next season if I missed one season. The interdependence of nature and humans on each other becomes evident when you are living in a village and farming. Moreover, I don’t have to worry much about doing exercise or yoga while farming. My daily routine gives me exposure to certain poses and hard work regularly. Sunbathing is a daily routine as I work on the farms every morning.”

The action of simply growing his food gives him all the needed health benefits. Along with getting exposure to soil, the skin comes in touch with the bacteria needed to keep your body healthy.

Building a community

Siddharth also conducts month-long workshops wherein the participants get a chance to live on his farm and learn to farm. On asking about his intention of conducting workshops, he shared,

“Nature has an abundance to give, but we don’t know how to connect with it. With these workshops, I intend to connect the youth with nature and help them witness its beauty. Creating a community that understands the importance of our interdependence with nature and values the process of life is my intention.”

He also imparts knowledge on water management, permaculture, and other farming-related topics. The volunteers in the workshop also experience an immense shift in their thinking patterns after one month.
