The 20s is a difficult time for most of us. It’s utterly confusing but also the most fun. It’s when we are trying to decide who we really want to be, what career path we want to choose and where we want to land up in life.
Under all the pressure of trying to get life figured out, it’s easy to feel lost and overwhelmed. There are so many people who have so many expectations from you. And you’re not sure whether you can fulfill them all. But I’ll tell you to calm down, breathe and take baby steps.
Here are a few small things you can do to get your act together in your 20s.
1. They make a schedule and stick to it.
You all have to-do lists and goals. But not all of you are meticulous enough to stick to our schedule because of the number of distractions available. Admit that! But if you could just get off social media for a few hours every day and just concentrate on the task at hand, imagine the things you can accomplish.
2. They are honest with themselves about their capabilities.
Be honest about what you can, and can not do. Do not burden yourself with filling in your day with so much that you cannot accomplish any of it and start losing faith in yourself. Be realistic about your goals and what you want to achieve.
3. They ask for help whenever necessary.
You do not have to do everything by yourself. Asking for help will not make you an inferior person. In fact, all it will do is teach you how to do things you didn’t already know. Don’t try to do everything yourself because, in the end, you will only land up ruining things.
4. They go to bed on time and don’t keep snoozing the alarm in the morning.
Most of you all have this habit of endlessly surfing random websites till your eyes are almost shutting and you just cannot keep them open anymore! This obviously affects your mornings and the entire day ahead. Discipline yourself and sleep early so you can have a productive day and not feel drowsy the entire time.
5. They do not keep postponing their chores till tomorrow.
You know what they say ‘kal kare so aaj kar’. Stop saying you will do all the things you want to do tomorrow because tomorrow won’t come until it’s too late. Get up, move your lazy ass and get stuff done!
6. They clean up their work desk and room.
Just the simple task of cleaning up your desk will make you feel a lot better and more organized. Cluttered workplace leads to a cluttered work life. I know it sounds stupid. But try it and see the difference it makes.
7. They don’t binge watch Netflix in their free time.
You all have those days when you want no human interactions and just want your own space to do the things you want to do. But it wouldn’t hurt to go and meet people when you have free time and talk to them. Refresh your mind by stepping out and also try to get some exercise in while you’re at it.
8. They start a saving fund for themselves.
Start saving now if you haven’t already. You’re in your 20’s and you need to plan and organize your future so you know where you’re going. Set small targets and achieve those targets. Try to save at least 20% of what you earn.
“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough”, so rightly said by Mae West. Isn’t it?
