Netizens enjoy guy’s banter over his relationship revelation to parents

India is all about marriage, family, and community. There are hardly any individual goals and if at all someone manages to get individualistic, they are again pulled back to the center of the whirlpool where the family exists. This applies majorly to relationships and wedlock.

But if you want to live a longer life you need to fret less and make fun of the most difficult situations. Such is the philosophy of a guy named Vivek Raju who identifies himself as a financial consultant on his account. But apart from being that, Raju decided to piqué the Twitterati’s interest in his love life by tweeting out a whole thread of tweets that explain how he broke the news about his girlfriend from another state to his parents.

As per the revelation in the tweets, Vivek and his family belong to Andhra Pradesh and his GF is from Punjab. This very fact took everyone back to Chetan Bhagat’s best-selling book 2 States: The Story of My Marriage and everyone started tweeting that the whole matter could very well be the plot of a Bollywood film.

This is how it began.

Broke the news about my girlfriend to my parents last night. We are from Andhra. My girlfriend is Punjabi. Fun times in the house. Mom is okay. Dad has gone completely silent. Having fun observing this once-in-a-lifetime reaction from parents (unless my brother drops a bomb too)“, wrote Vivek.

And the netizens came in like no less than Baratis. This inspired Raju to tweet out some more happenings and he shared all the reactions of his dad in whom the chaps seemed most interested. He shared how his dad went silent which made him anxious for quite some time. He even did his own filmy math and compared his situation to Vicky Donor.

Next, the guy expresses his worry over his dad’s demand to see the girl in person in times of COVID.

But thankfully his dad’s better sense prevailed and he understood the situation.

Raju’s mom was supportive though. She even gave him the idea of sending the photographs of the girl.

Vivek sent the pictures yet the eerie silence prevailed with his dad and also in his family Whatsapp group. Spooky, right? He even brought up IPL to start a conversation but had no luck.

Out of the follower’s curiosity, Vivek had to even share the response of his girlfriend’s family. He said they were”absolutely fine” with the relationship. “No drama. I doubt they are from India,” Vivek added.

He is now expecting his girlfriend who is a lawyer to grill him.

Poor Raju is non-alcoholic and so is his dad so they can’t gel over it, neither can he please his in-laws who happen to take it.

The guy’s banter had users hooked, with several people suggesting ways to get the parents on board with the relationship. Some users went down harshly on Indian parents and their take on love marriages. Having made several escapes from the situation out there, Raju still concludes that his dad is not a villain.

I’m excited to know what happens next with Raju. Are you?
