A Bengaluru traffic cop has won hearts online for risking his life to save a bird. In a clip that is now vial on the internet, a cop named Mr. Suresh is seen risking his life as he climbs a fence under construction to free a bird caught in a tower.

The officer climbed onto the fence at the scene without thinking of the need for a safety device and untied a wire that entangled the pigeons. After being released, the bird flew away.

A clip of the incident was posted by Bengaluru Deputy Traffic Police Commissioner Kumar R. Jain on his Twitter account.

“The hidden and unexplored side of a policeman. Well done, Mr. Suresh from @rajajinagartrps”, Kumar wrote in the caption.

Soon after the video was posted online, social media users thanked the officer for his selfless service. However, some were concerned for his safety.

“Appreciate the action but not at the cost of safety. Like how you insist on helmets for all riders, safety should be a priority for the policeman as well. He, too, has a family back home,” remarked one user.

“This is beyond the call of his duty. Please ensure he is suitably awarded,” tweeted another.

One of the users suggested that police should equip his PCR van with an emergency kit to ensure police safety in such situations.

“Sir, Without safety and precautions, please don’t encourage such actions. In the event of adverse consequences, I am pretty sure none will come in support for his family throughout his life,” read user’s comment.

Karnataka Home Minister Alaga Janandra also shared the same video.

Our mobile police are also involved in rescue work. Mr. Suresh, Traffic Police of Rajajinagar, rescued the crow stuck in the tower with great care. Kudos to him for his punctuality and sense of duty,” he wrote in his Twitter post.
