Most of us are in self-isolation, trying our best to social distance and reduce the number of COVID-19 cases. Self-isolation is our new norm, which means a lot of changes and new routines.

Since your nail and hair salon, your favorite spa and massage therapists are not available anymore, it’s time to turn to DIYs. Self-care is important, and there are many at-home beauty routines you can try out.

Read on to see our self-isolation beauty survival guide.

Clean Your Skin

Skin is our biggest organ and we need to take care of it properly. It shields us and protects us, so it’s time to create a perfect skincare routine. First, you should start with a cleanse. It’s never a good idea to apply new layers of skincare like oils and creams if you didn’t properly cleanse your skin prior. For a deep cleanse, you can use a cleansing brush. Apply a gentle cleanser on your skin and move in a circular motion. Remember to be gentle, you don’t want to irritate your skin. Wash away with water.

Once a week you can use an exfoliator to remove dead skin cells.

Nourish Your Skin

After a proper cleanse, it’s time to nourish your skin with a mask. There are many types of masks to choose from, depending on the desired effect and the type of your skin. There are clay masks for oily skin, hydrating masks for dry skin, nourishing masks ingredients like honey, coconut, etc. Sheet masks are still all the rage, and they provide so much hydration to your skin.

There are even masks with skin rejuvenation ingredients. Use this time to read a book while your mask is working, or watch a tv show; the point is to relax and de-stress. After washing it off, use an eye cream and a moisturizer.

Healthy Hair

If you are used to regular hair salon visits for trims and colors, try not to do any of that yourself. You will probably do more damage than good if you don’t have any experience. This is the time to revive and replenish your hair and make it as healthy as possible. You probably didn’t have enough time to leave your hair mask as long you wanted to before. Overnight masks are perfect for the deep restoration of your hair. Washing your hair every day is not good, as it strips your hair of the natural oil that helps it to be healthy.

Use this indoor time to train your hair to need less washing and stay clean for multiple days.

Body Hair

As for the hair on your head, this is also the perfect time to give some rest to your body hair. If you have been planning to grow out your eyebrows, this is a perfect opportunity. Many women, and men, are regularly waxing, so use this time to grow your body hair enough for the next appointment. Or just take a break from waxing and enjoy the pain-free time.

At-Home Manicure

For many of us, manicures are an essential part of our routine. A weekly mani or monthly acrylics are not available anymore, so you should find an alternative if you want your nails to still look pretty. This can also be a perfect time to grow out your natural nails.

The first step for a DIY manicure is prepping and Côte has all the tools and colors you need. If you have nail polish or left-over acrylics, remove them as gently as possible. Apply cuticle oil and gently push them back. Shape your nails, but only in one direction to prevent chipping. Nail polish and at-home gel polish stick better to lightly buffed nail beds. Apply the regular or gel polish and seal it with a finishing coat to last longer.

Explore Further

There are many more beauty routine steps you can take, and it all depends on your preferences. Use this time to get creative with new manicures or eyeshadow looks. You can finally try out that extensive hair care routine. Even if you can’t go out, there is surely a cosmetics online store for all your beauty needs and wishes. Try out new products, styles, colors and have fun. Make the best out of this time.

Exercise

Besides the cosmetic and beauty products we have, workouts should be a part of your beauty regime too. Regular exercise, no matter how small it may seem, can really add quality to your life and improve your health. Workouts promote blood flow and oxygen intake, boost our mood, resulting in healthier and glowing skin, hair and nails. It’s a great way to combat boredom and get into a better mood. Don’t let the stillness of this time make you stay in bed all day.

Even though these times can feel very uncertain, try to find happiness in small moments. This can be a relaxing face mask while reading a book, meditation or a new hobby. Use this time to reconnect with yourself and try to enjoy it as much as possible. And don’t forget to wash your hands regularly.
