How far can you go to keep a promise? Especially if he or she is your partner? What this man has done will make you believe in true love even though his partner met a tragic end.

35-year-old Xu Shinan from China married his wife’s corpse during her funeral service. He did this to fulfill her wish of seeing herself as a bride, after she lost her life battling cancer for five-and-a-half-years, reported Daily Mail.

The funeral ceremony of Shinan’s late wife, Yang Liu took place in China’s Dalian region, where her corpse was placed in the funeral parlor. What’s sad is that both of them were together for 12 years.

As a tradition to pay respect to the dead in China, Shinan stayed by his wife’s corpse for a week since her death.

The duo was classmates and it was in 2007 that they fell in love with each other. In 2013, they registered their marriage and just 3 months after that, she was diagnosed with cancer, while she was busy in her wedding preparations.

After going through numerous treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation, Liu’s condition changed for better, but cancer made a comeback in 2017 and her condition started deteriorating. On October 6, she slipped into a coma and died a week later.

Therefore, even though it was too late for Shinan to fulfill her wish, but still he married Liu’s corpse which was covered in a beautiful white wedding dress.
