On 12 May 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a financial package of Rs.20 lakh crore to revive India’s stalled economy on account of COVID-19. Over a televised address, he said that the package intended to kick start the process of making India self-reliant (Aatmnirbhar). The PM emphasized on the importance of India as a huge local market and how India has the potential to take its local products global.

Thus arose the call for going “vocal for local”. Modiji’s address focused on the need for India to recognize the importance of local manufacturing, local markets, and local supply chains. He said that COVID-19 taught India the importance of going local.

“All our demands during the crisis were met locally. Now it is time to be ‘vocal about local’ products and help them become global.” – PM Modi

In the advent of India’s Independence Day, we have listed 10 Indian Contemporary Fashion Brands which you can opt to make India Aatmnirbhar.
