Humanity is above all religion and harmony is what all communities seek. This was exemplified by a Muslim man from Karnataka who not only looked after an orphaned Hindu girl for 10 years but also arranged her marriage to a Hindu groom as per Vedic rituals.
Named Mehaboob Masli, the man is a resident of Vijayapura. He fostered a girl named Pooja Vadigeri who was abandoned by her relatives since she became an orphan a decade ago. She was just 8 years old then. At that time, Masli took charge of her well-being despite already having two sons and two daughters of his own.
Mehaboob Masli is a man known for his social service. He has been conducting various events and acts to promote communal harmony.
He further told the media that the groom’s parents happily accepted Pooja without any dowry.

This incident is not singular. In 2020, a Muslim man from Maharashtra arranged the marriage of his ‘adopted’ Hindu sisters. Bababhai Pathan from Ahmednagar, Maharashtra adopted two ‘orphaned’ Hindu women as his sisters and had them married following Hindu customs and rituals.
