His 54-year-old mother was slut-shamed for wearing red lipstick by none other than some of his nearest relatives at a family get-together. Wondering what did her son do about it? He, for sure, stood up for his mother. But in his own profound style.

He put on the same lip color and blew up the world by sharing his picture the next day. He sent it to each and every one of those relatives with a caring ‘Good morning. Get well soon‘ message.

We got the opportunity to talk to this amazing guy, Pushpak Sen, who’s born and brought up in Kolkata and lives with his parents, uncle, and grandma.

Speaking about his equation with his mom and dad, Pushpak said, “My mother is a businesswoman, who is fierce and strong – the source of all my strength. I have been fortunate enough to have loving parents who are my biggest cheerleaders in whatever I do.”

What baffled me the most is that some of my relatives have children, who are super ‘woke’ on social media and were present when this ‘gossip’ was happening but didn’t say a word,he added, shifting the focus to the point of his act.

Pushpak is a digital content creator and loves everything and anything that has to do with art and culture. A fashion enthusiast, to be precise.

I have always loved fashion – more than the clothes, the art side of it. I see fashion as an extension of my personality, as a mode of self-expression. Fashion lets me be whoever I want to be,” he says.

Being a man and wearing a red shade lip color has a fine line that touches the concept of genderless fashion. His entire Instagram profile speaks out loud on the same. By doing so, Pushpak intends to blow the air around toxic masculinity.

We asked Pushpak to define the way he sees things.

The word ‘fashion’ is universal. I feel fashion has always been gender-less, it is the society that has put us into the boxes. Women have been wearing men’s clothes since forever but we haven’t really seen a lot of men wear clothes meant for women? Why so? Because society has taught us that masculinity is the crown but let me tell you, it’s not. Toxic masculinity is fragile and me, my brothers and sisters are here to break it for good,” he answered.

The 25-year-old calls himself a big-time feminist for he had the most amazing women in his life who shaped him. He speaks up on the societal norms set for each gender and how women are always victimized.

All I wanted to prove is that lipstick is a temporary thing, used to make oneself feel pretty. Is masculinity or femininity so fragile that it will be broken with something as minuscule as lipstick or make-up? We all know how women are treated in society. I don’t have any ground-breaking answer to that. What I can tell you is that I have always been surrounded by fantastic women who have shaped me – the person I am today and I wouldn’t change anything of that,” Pushpak concludes.

Here I am, a man with a full face of beard and red lipstick. Here I am, standing up for all the mothers, sisters, daughters, non-males, and all the women who have had to suppress their desires because of the toxicity of an insecure society. Here I am, standing up for all of them and asking my fellow brothers to stand up for the woman you know, in your own way when you see your loved ones getting bullied,” -Pushpak Sen.
