D Sivan, a humble postman from Coonoor, Tamil Nadu has made the entire world spellbound with his diligence.

Sivan has reportedly been trekking across a stretch of 15 Km dense forest in the hilly terrains of Coonoor over slippery streams for the past 30 years, every single day to deliver letters. His journey was not only full of labor but he braved the possibility of attacks by wild animals and has been chased by elephants, bears, and gaurs during the course of his service to the India Post.

Last week, the postman delivered his last letter in the hill station hanging up his well-used boots after three decades. Social media is full of praise for his dedicated service.

It was IAS officer Supriya Sahu who took to Twitter on Wednesday to laud the postman who did his duty with “utmost dedication” making him an overnight sensation. Sahu’s post went viral with over 77K ‘likes’ and more than 15.7K ‘retweets’ and 1,5K comments.

Twitteratti has been appealing to honor the phenomenal Postman with Padma Award.

Besides this, there were others who praised Mr. Sivan for his dedication and thanked him for his service.

But people also wondered as to why he was not even given a cycle to do his duty.

We salute your spirit and dedication, Mr.Sivan.
