Difficulties and rejections are not always unfavorable. Sometimes they lead you towards a much better destination. This story of Mr. Udayan Kachchhy will take you on a journey that will inspire you to embrace challenges with much more grace.

In 2009, when Udayan was in college, his family suffered from a financial crisis and lost most of their savings. It was a situation where he had to take up some work to support his family. Teaching was the best thing he did. That is what took him ahead in life. He shared about those crucial moments with Life Beyond Numbers

What happened was not at all expected. The stock market had crashed, and we lost all our hard-earned money. However, there was no time to discuss and complain. What happened, happened! Now, it was time to act and be supportive. I was pursuing B.Com at that time and had a good conceptual understanding. My old tuition classes had a vacancy for a part-time tutor. My role was to do paper checking and conduct doubt sessions. I grabbed the opportunity and started working.

His sister was in 9th grade and was attending the same classes. The payment for his work was adjusted against her fees. Soon, Udayan joined as a full-time tutor during the second year of his college. His monthly salary was Rs.6000 then. He used to perform his duties with utmost dedication and did overtime as and when possible.

The struggle of dealing with the relatives was altogether a different one. Studying and working parallelly brought many questions from the social front. However, necessity is more potent than any other thing. He did what was to be done and was determined to grow.

A new beginning

After completing B.com, Udayan pursued M.com. With his expertise and skillful teaching, he became a visiting faculty in LJ College. Also, he was hired as a full-time faculty in the classes where he was a tutor.

After completing his M.Com, he began his studies for a Ph.D. To conduct some research, Udayan needed leave for ten days. Unfortunately, his leave request was denied. On top of that, the work not in his scope was also dumped on him.

However, Udayan was firm towards the Ph.D. and went on leave. During this period, he heard about his replacement for a specific subject. This information came through a parent who called him. Parents were concerned about why he left teaching these subjects suddenly. The tuition owner did not tell him directly about this change. Soon, he decided to leave the classes. This caused a dispute between the class owner and Mr. Udayan. The owner responded rudely to his decision to walk away.

However, with the help of his sir in LJ College, Deshpande sir, he soon began his teaching journey. The initial phase was filled with struggle. They had a small place where many old and new students came. He never advertised to any of the old students. They somehow found their way to his new class.

With the increasing number of students, they had to rent a new space in a building. Unfortunately, the building belonged to a friend of the owner of tuition classes that he had left with a dispute. He was harassed and disturbed in every possible way. Improper facilities, spreading hate about their classes UKIC, degrading the value of their teaching methods and teachers.

Hard work and pure intention always pay off

Despite all the troubles caused by the previous workplace owner, he continued. His family was his greatest strength in those days. They used to come and help in the functioning of the classes. Also, these old students would tutor the new students and make things smooth.

His family supported him in all the administrative and teaching processes. Things were going great until one day something happened,

After a few months, the building owner of the rented place came to us and told us to empty the space or buy it instantly. We knew it was the trick of that tuition owner to harass us. We had no other option, so we emptied the space.

Along with the help of some relatives, friends, students’ parents, and many other people, they were able to buy a space to start UKIC. They soon gave it a fresh start at a new place that was their own. His wife, Dimple, joined the institute and supported his journey through her teaching skills. The struggle remained, but they got through it because they had a purpose.
