Wedding season is likely to bring forth a lot of astounding visuals and grandeur around us. Yet, amidst all the glitter, some people never forget to add meaning to the occasion and make a difference.
Such an incident was seen in West Bengal where a woman distributed all the leftovers from a wedding to the underprivileged people, instead of letting them go wasted.
Images of the woman dressed in a pretty pink saree and ornaments yet sitting on the ground with big metal buckets filled with food have been going viral on social media. She happily serves the food to the needy on paper plates with her own hands. From older women to little children, rickshaw wallas, all were seen gathering near her to get a serving of the sumptuous meal.

Wedding photographer Nilanjan Mondal happens to capture the noble deed of the woman. He took to Facebook to identify the woman as Papiya Kar.
Posting the images on a Kolkata Wedding Photographers’ Group, Mondal said that Papiya brought the leftover food from her brother’s wedding reception that evening and served it to quite a few people who came to her in the Ranaghat station area.
Here are the pictures.
People who know Papiya in person revealed in the comment section that this is not an isolated incident, and she is known to feed the underprivileged in her locality. With this, she touched thousands and managed to save a lot of food that often goes to waste after the functions.
We hope Papiya inspires others to do the same and never let food get wasted.
