Let’s start by asking ourselves what Self-worth is. We either get an ambiguous and vague answer or just the definition from the book. To know what it means for ourselves and its importance, we need to understand the meaning and significance of self-worth in depth.

Every particle of this planet has its self-worth, be it a grain of sand, a blade of grass, any tiny centipede, or a newborn leaf of a massive tree in the forest. Most important is, does every living being have the realization of self-worth during their lifetime?

Humans are said to be the most intelligent breed alive on this planet, and so many of us try hard to know our self-worth while we are alive. However, many others are contended with their anonymity and stay unnoticed throughout their lives, while there are some others as well who do not know what self-worth actually is, and so they never try to know about it even.

Who out of these do you think is better actually? It is really tough to decide because every life has a different destiny and follows a different path to reach their destiny. Running around to know self-worth or to prove it to someone else can be delusional sometimes for ourselves.

To know our self-worth without living in illusion and consuming ourselves, we must know ourselves, our motives in life, our purpose, and whether we have achieved it or are we even close to achieving it.

The primary intention of the words above is that self-awareness is the first step to knowing our self-worth. We must also be clear that any activity against the human and animal interest is a crime, and whatever we take from society and nature must be paid back somehow.

We are social animals, and people around us always surround us. Remember the movie Cast Away? Imagine being alone on the farthest desolate island. Even the thoughts bring chills.

In our life, we attain certain positions. We learn so many things, and we are among our relatives, make friends, see places, gather knowledge, and give some to others. We laugh, we cry, and we face our good and evil. In the journey of life, not everybody does things out of expectations; not everybody makes relations out of expectations.

Your probable question will be, what do they think if not expect? Because we humans live every second with expectations. We study with the expectation of excelling in examinations, give love to people to get love in return and work hard to expect better accreditation.

So are you self-aware during your lifetime while you engage in any of the above? Our desires and expectations take us closer to knowing ourselves better and better. As we know ourselves better and try to improvise by knowing our faults and errors, we move closer to being self-aware. Once we are self-aware, we gradually understand our self-worth as well.

When we are alive and fit, we meet many people. We invite them to share our happy moments of togetherness on various occasions. However, our real wealth is our people who stand with us in tough times to support us and are always on the watch so we do not break. These are the people who make us realize our self-worth.

Our self-worth is not what we earn but what other people think about us or what they will talk about us when we leave this world. Teary eyes and trembling faces on our departure are our real wealth.
