Before the technology has engulfed our lives making us distant from our cultures and languages, there was hardly anyone in Karnataka who hasn’t heard of the oldest and one of the most famous Kannada folktale of ‘Punyakoti’, a humble cow who believed truth is above all.
The story is about everything that the world needs right now. Through the simple tale of animals, the film shows how honesty and humility can move one’s heart and there is no match for speaking the truth.
The project is completely crowd-sourced and crow-funded and is brought into life by Ravi Shankar V, an HR professional at Infosys, Bangalore. It was back in his graduation days when he thought of conceptualizing the idea to make a film. Using one of the oldest languages of India, Sanskrit– this animated film trailer has already made headlines.
Music maestro Illayaraja has also come forward to compose songs for this film for free. The film is in its post-production stages and needs more helping hands to make it to the screens.
The trailer of Punyakoti was out on May 22 and within 2 weeks, it has got 7.4k views on Youtube.
