Generally, human being gets a degree and begins the pursuit of gathering happiness for themselves and their family. In contrast, some extraordinary individuals make sure that their journey of growth does not stay only limited to themselves and their families. They contribute to the people around them through their skills and time.

On July 1st, 1949, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in India was founded. Since then, this day has been celebrated as the ICAI Foundation day or CA day in India. On this occasion, LifeBeyondNumbers got a chance to have a conversation with Mr. Ravi Chhawchharia, a CA who serves people through education. Based in Surat, Gujarat, he is not only a Chartered Accountant but has completed his Company Secretaries and CMA with All India Ranks.

There were a lot of CA members in my family. Their presence inspired me to pursue CA as a career. However, my teaching journey began when I was in CA Final. My juniors used to request me for mentoring. I soon started teaching my juniors for entrance and intermediate levels, along with pursuing my finals. This is how I began my teaching journey and soon after completing my CA, I professionally pursued teaching, Mr. Ravi narrates while sharing his story.

A thoughtful turn in the teaching journey

Approximately after two years, he came across a student from UP who was extremely dedicated. However, he couldn’t pursue CA due to financial issues. After knowing about his family condition and struggle, Mr. Ravi decided to teach him without any fees.

This was the beginning of his journey of serving through education. He then started to teach many such students who were highly dedicated but lacked the needed resources. However, he did not make any such announcements about this.

Later, while he was attending a conference, he came across a boy who was serving water. The boy approached him and expressed his intention to study CA. On having a further conversation, he came to know that the boy had to do a job as his father had passed away. He wanted to study, but the situations were highly unfavorable for him.

This was the incident that gave birth to ‘CA Stars’. Post this incident, he had a realization,

“I felt that there might be a lot of students who need this opportunity. If I don’t announce it publicly, a lot of students might miss out on the chance of excelling in their lives. To help as many students as possible, I introduced a batch by the name CA Stars. In this batch, we select 40-45 students and guide them from the entrance till getting a job placement.”

This space is open to students from all over India. However, students are selected based on an entrance exam, interview, and a thorough background check. Students can also opt for accommodation and food facilities in Surat based on their needs. From the beginning to the end of the CA course, students receive every possible support, and students who are weak in English are specially given a tutorial for that as well.

Mr. Ravi has been doing this for five years without financial assistance or donations. His determination, will, and generosity have continued the CA Stars batch for many years. He further promises to continue this batch till he teaches.

On asking about the experience of these five years, he shares,

I have met a lot of students whose families have become financially stable after their kids completed their degree through CA Stars Batch and started earning. I am extremely glad that God has blessed me with such capabilities and power that I can extend my help to these students.

Mr. Ravi is not just helping people get a degree in CA but changing lives through “CA Stars”.
