Creating something new by watching online videos is not everyone’s cup of tea. However, this man from Pakistan is passionate enough to invest all his savings to build an aircraft from scratch.
This 32-year-old is a popcorn seller and a security guard by profession. Muhammad Fayyaz hails from Tabur in central Punjab province and has always dreamt of building and flying an aircraft as a child. He even used unconventional materials such as road cutter for the engine, burlap as wings and wheels from a rickshaw to create this beautiful flying machine.
What’s more? Apart from his savings, he has also sold a piece of family property and took a loan of 50,000 Pakistani rupees from a micro-finance NGO, which he is still paying off. His source of inspiration were numerous TV clips and blueprints that helped him to learn how to build an aircraft.
He has now become a sensation in his locality after his wonderful creation but unfortunately, for attempting to fly a small aircraft he built, Fayyaz was arrested in April and it was taken into custody by police. But, his growing fame has also caught the attention of Pakistan Air force.
After this, representatives from the Pakistan Air Force have made a couple of visits to review the aircraft and the commander of a nearby base issued him a certificate which praises his “passion and dexterity” in building what it described as a “mini basic airplane”.

In another interview with Telegraph, Fayyaz told the national daily that he hopes to be airborne within a couple of months. At present, he is seeking donations from his well-wishers and is now raising money for a novel attempt. “I am reassembling my plane and hopefully will be able to do it in a couple of months,” he said to the national daily.
